UAE to Teach Cybersecurity from Grade 1 to 12 in Landmark Curriculum Overhaul.

Starting in the 2025–26 academic year, the UAE Ministry of Education will integrate cybersecurity into the national curriculum for all students from Grade 1 to Grade 12. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to equip young people with essential 21st-century skills and ensure they can navigate the digital world safely.

Tailored Learning for Every Stage.
The program is designed to match the developmental stages of students.

  • In the early grades, children will learn basic online safety and how to recognize safe online behavior.

  • By Grades 2 and 3, they will explore the concept of the “digital world” and understand how the internet works.

  • Grade 4 will see students engage in interactive STREAM projects, building digital self-protection skills.

Deepening Cyber Skills in Middle School.
From Grades 5 to 8, lessons will cover more advanced online safety concepts, critical thinking about digital risks, and protective measures against cyber threats. This phase is aimed at strengthening students’ awareness and their ability to make smart choices online.

Advanced Cybersecurity for High School Students.
In Grades 9 to 12, students will study networks, the internet, and digital security at an advanced level. The final year will feature a dedicated “Cybersecurity” course, preparing them for higher education or careers in the field.

A Step Towards a Digitally Resilient Society.
By embedding cybersecurity as a core competency in schools, the UAE aims to build a generation capable of engaging with technology safely and effectively. Education experts have welcomed the move, stressing that family support alongside school lessons will be key to reinforcing these skills.
