UAE to get first cross-emirate hiking trail!

UAE to Launch Its First Cross-Emirate Hiking Trail from Jebel Jais to Fujairah

The UAE is all set to launch its first-ever cross-emirate hiking trail, connecting the majestic mountains of Ras Al Khaimah with the coastal beauty of Fujairah. This exciting new adventure corridor will offer nature lovers a seamless trail stretching from Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, to the Alaqqah Coastal Ridge in Fujairah.

With both emirates sharing rugged mountain ranges near the Oman border, the trail promises stunning views and diverse terrain. Hikers will experience everything from dramatic valleys (wadis) and mountain ridges to desert landscapes and serene coastal paths—all in one journey.

Ras Al Khaimah is already home to adrenaline-packed attractions like the Jais Sledder and the Jais Sky Tour, a thrilling series of six ziplines. Meanwhile, Fujairah’s hiking gems include the Sal Khail Trail and Alaqqah Coastal Ridge, offering panoramic views over the city and sea.

These trails, along with other adventure hotspots like Jabal Mibrah, Showka, Dafta, Mamadoh, Esfai, and Esfini, are part of a broader plan to connect both emirates through a unified outdoor experience.

This ambitious project comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RAKTDA (Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority) and Fujairah Adventures, aiming to integrate their hiking networks and promote eco-tourism.

In 2024, Ras Al Khaimah welcomed approximately 1.3 million visitors. With initiatives like this trail, the emirate hopes to more than triple that number to reach over 3.5 million tourists by the end of the decade.
