UAE National Day: 11 Activities Banned During Eid Al Etihad Celebrations.

The UAE is preparing to mark the 54th Eid Al Etihad with a special four-day weekend, and as families plan their celebrations, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has released important public guidelines to ensure safety and order. Authorities have emphasized that celebrations should reflect national pride without disrupting public peace or road safety.

Residents are encouraged to show their patriotism in appropriate and respectful ways, such as using official Eid Al Etihad stickers on vehicles and raising the UAE flag during the holiday.

However, certain practices have been strictly prohibited. Authorities have issued a clear list of activities that can lead to fines and even vehicle impoundment if violated.

Approved Ways to Celebrate!

Residents are allowed to celebrate in patriotic ways that do not compromise safety, including using official vehicle decals and correctly hoisting the national flag.

11 Activities That Are Completely Prohibited:

  • Participating in vehicle parades or forming random, unauthorised gatherings.

  • Obstructing traffic or blocking public roads.

  • Engaging in stunt driving.

  • Leaning or hanging out of windows or sunroofs.

  • Overloading vehicles beyond safe passenger limits.

  • Covering windows or concealing license plates.

  • Making unauthorised vehicle modifications or creating disruptive noise.

  • Wearing scarves that are not related to the Eid Al Etihad occasion.

  • Raising any flag other than the UAE national flag.

  • Using spray paint on vehicles.

  • Playing loud music, except for music related to Eid Al Etihad.

Authorities have stressed that any non-compliant vehicle or driver will face penalties, which may include fines and impoundment.

Hoisting the UAE Flag Correctly.

While displaying the UAE flag is encouraged and deeply symbolic, it must be done respectfully. The Ministry has outlined specific rules to ensure the national emblem is treated with dignity — including its condition, placement, proportions, and cleanliness. The flag should never be displayed in a way that insults or diminishes its symbolism.

Celebrate With Pride and With Respect.

National Day is a time to honor the UAE’s heritage, unity, and progress. By following these guidelines, residents can celebrate responsibly and ensure the holiday remains safe, joyful, and respectful for everyone.
