UAE-made AI robot can now detect suspicious packages from afar!

UAE Unveils AI-Powered Robot to Detect Threats from 800 Metres Away!

The UAE Ministry of Defence has taken a major step forward in emergency threat detection with the unveiling of the Tactical Identification Ground Robot (TIGR). Showcased at the World Crisis and Emergency Management Summit (WCEMS) in Abu Dhabi, this AI-powered robot is designed to remotely identify threats from suspicious packages — including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) materials — from up to 800 metres away.

Game-Changing Technology in Crisis Management.

“Instead of sending human personnel, we can deploy the AI robot,” a Ministry of Defence spokesperson explained. “It is equipped with sensors that detect potential threats remotely by transmitting live footage and data back to the operator in real time.”

This approach not only reduces the risk to human lives but also speeds up threat response times significantly.

How TIGR Works?

Once TIGR detects a possible threat, it immediately sends real-time data to the command team. If the robot is able to identify the nature of the threat, the defence team can secure the area swiftly. If further analysis is required, TIGR is capable of collecting environmental samples—such as soil or air—and sending them directly to the Ministry’s laboratories for detailed evaluation.

Built In-House and Ready for Deployment.

What makes this project even more remarkable is that TIGR has been designed and built entirely in-house by the Ministry of Defence. Over the past year, it has undergone rigorous testing during emergency drills to ensure performance accuracy and reliability. The robot is expected to become fully operational within the next six months.

What’s Next for TIGR?

The Ministry is not stopping here. “It is continuously being upgraded. We’re exploring enhancements, including increasing its range and adding amphibious capabilities. Science is infinite,” the spokesperson added.

Fortunately, TIGR has not yet been deployed for a real-life emergency — but with its cutting-edge capabilities, the UAE is now better prepared than ever to tackle potential threats in a safe, intelligent, and highly efficient manner.
