UAE becomes one of the first countries to teach AI in all public schools!

Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, public schools across the UAE will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a formal subject—right from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. This bold move positions the UAE among the first nations globally to fully integrate AI at every stage of education.

Empowering tomorrow’s innovators.
Launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE), this initiative aims to equip students with the tools to understand, use, and create with AI. It’s part of the UAE’s broader mission to develop future-ready talent and foster a generation capable of thriving in a tech-driven world.

Developed in collaboration with top institutions.
The programme is being designed in collaboration with major tech and education partners, including Presight (a G42 company), AI71, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and the Emirates College for Advanced Education. Together, they’re creating a system where students grow from passive users into active problem-solvers.

A curriculum built for the digital age.
The AI curriculum will cover seven key areas: foundational concepts, data and algorithms, software tools, ethics, real-world applications, innovation and project design, and policy/community engagement.

Each grade level is carefully tailored:

  • In kindergarten, AI is introduced through stories, visuals, and play.

  • In Cycle 1 (early grades), students start comparing human and machine capabilities and develop digital thinking.

  • In Cycle 2 (middle school), they dive into AI design, bias, and ethics.

  • In Cycle 3 (high school), students work on real-world problems using advanced AI concepts.

No extra school hours needed.
The subject will be delivered through the existing “Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation” course, so there’s no need to adjust school hours. Teachers will be provided with flexible lesson plans, activities, and detailed guides to bring the curriculum to life without overwhelming students.

A future-focused vision.
Minister of Education Sarah Al Amiri highlighted that this step is key to modernising education and fostering ethical, tech-savvy youth. It reflects the UAE government’s commitment to innovation, positioning the country as a global leader in tech-driven education and digital economy development.
