Traffic Diversions and Road Closures Announced Across UAE.

The Roads and Transport Authorities across Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi have announced several road diversions and closures, beginning this weekend, as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements. Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance to avoid delays and ensure a smoother commute.

Dubai: Diversion at Al Barari Underpass (E311)
Starting Saturday, June 28, 2025, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will implement a traffic diversion at the Al Barari Underpass on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). The diversion is expected to last for two months and supports major works to enhance the rainwater and groundwater drainage systems, along with road resurfacing activities.
Motorists heading in both directions are encouraged to use alternative routes, such as:

  • Dubai–Al Ain Bridge (U-turn towards Jebel Ali)

  • Global Village Underpass and Umm Suqeim Street intersection (U-turn towards Sharjah)

Sharjah: Full Closure from Al Intifada Street to Al Corniche Street
Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced a complete road closure stretching from Al Intifada Street to Al Corniche Street. This closure begins on Friday, June 27, and will remain in effect until Sunday, July 27. The move marks the first phase of a major infrastructure development project in the area.

Abu Dhabi: Partial Closure on Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street
In Abu Dhabi, a partial road closure will take place on Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street from Friday, June 27, to Monday, June 30. In addition, the free right turn from Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street to Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street will be closed starting 12:00 AM on June 27 and will reopen at 5:00 AM on June 30.

Plan Ahead and Drive Safe
With multiple diversions and closures happening simultaneously across the UAE, commuters are strongly advised to check traffic updates regularly, follow directional signs, and allocate extra travel time.
