Summer in the UAE Begins June 21: Here’s What to Expect.
With winter long gone and temperatures already soaring, many UAE residents are wondering — has summer officially begun? While it might feel like summer, the astronomical start is still just around the corner.
According to the Dubai Astronomy Group, the summer solstice will take place on June 21 at 6:42 AM UAE time. This marks the moment when the sun reaches its highest and northernmost point in the sky — officially kicking off the summer season.
Longest Day of the Year!
Between June 18 and June 24, the UAE will experience its longest days, with sunlight lasting up to 13 hours and 43 minutes, says astronomy expert Ibrahim Al Jarwan. This period features the shortest nights of the year, a clear indicator of peak summer onset.
What Will the Weather Be Like?
First Half of Summer (June 21 – August 10):

Temperatures will remain elevated, leading to muggy and uncomfortable conditions
Staying Safe in the Heat!
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued essential tips to help residents stay safe:
Drink plenty of water and fluids
Avoid direct sun exposure, especially during peak hours
Wear light-coloured, cotton clothing
Use hats and sunglasses
Avoid intense outdoor activities in the middle of the day
