Sharjah Extends Probation Period for Government Employees to 9 Months.
Sharjah Extends Probation Period for Government Employees to 9 Months.
In a major update to human resources regulations, the Government of Sharjah has extended the probation period for newly appointed government employees from six to nine months. This decision is part of a broader strategy to enhance job performance evaluation and give Emirati employees more time to prove their capabilities in the workplace.
The new rule allows for an additional three-month extension, which can be approved by the hiring department. This extension applies from the employee’s date of appointment.
As part of these reforms, Sharjah has also introduced a number of new internal committees across government departments. These include:
Disciplinary Committee
Grievances and Complaints Committee
Emergency and Crisis Committee
Each of these committees will have at least three members and will handle issues such as employee misconduct, internal disputes, and emergency responses.
Additionally, a Supreme Human Resources Committee has been established. This high-level body will review legislation, assess complex HR cases, and make recommendations on matters referred by the Executive Council or the Ruler of Sharjah.
These updates reflect Sharjah’s commitment to strengthening its government workforce and improving internal HR structures across departments.
