Sharjah Announces Eid Al Fitr Holidays!

The Sharjah Human Resources Department (SHRD) has officially announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for all government employees in the emirate. The holiday will be observed from 1 to 3 Shawwal 1446 AH.

Additional Holiday if Ramadan Extends.

If the holy month of Ramadan completes 30 days, then the 30th day of Ramadan will also be considered an official holiday. This means that government employees in Sharjah could enjoy an extended break depending on the moon sighting.

Resumption of Work.

Official working hours for government sector employees will resume on 4 Shawwal 1446 AH. However, employees working in shift-based roles will follow their assigned schedules.

Possible Eid Al Fitr Holiday Scenarios.

The number of holidays will depend on the moon sighting:

• If Eid Al Fitr falls on Sunday, March 30, employees will get a five-day holiday from Friday, March 28, to Tuesday, April 1.

• If Eid Al Fitr falls on Monday, March 31, employees will enjoy a six-day holiday from Friday, March 28, to Wednesday, April 2.

Sharjah’s Three-Day Weekend Policy.

 Sharjah government employees benefit from a longer weekend, following a four-day workweek. Since January 2022, government departments in the emirate have implemented a three-day weekend policy, allowing employees to have Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays off.
