RTA Now Reserves Front Bus Seats for Priority Riders!

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken another step toward making public transport more inclusive and comfortable. Starting now, the front seats on all public buses across the city will be reserved for senior citizens, pregnant women, and mothers with children. This thoughtful move ensures that those who need a little extra care can travel with dignity, ease, and peace of mind.

A More Inclusive Ride for Everyone
This update is part of RTA’s bigger mission to create a safe, accessible, and people-first public transport system. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference in everyday life for many Dubai residents and visitors. By giving priority seating to vulnerable groups, RTA is showing that public transport can be compassionate and community-focused.

What’s New with Dubai Buses?
Dubai’s public bus network is no small feat. With over 1,390 modern, air-conditioned buses running on 187 routes and completing 11,000 trips every day, it serves more than half a million passengers. These buses already include advanced safety and accessibility features, and now, they’re even more welcoming for everyone.

Ongoing Upgrades and Improvements
The new seating policy comes alongside major upgrades across the city’s transport infrastructure. RTA has recently completed a major maintenance campaign for bus shelters and is launching six new dedicated bus and taxi lanes covering 13 kilometers. These are expected to cut journey times by 41% and increase punctuality by 42%.

More Routes, Smarter Stations
This year alone, RTA has introduced nine express bus routes, nine metro link services, and four taxi routes to serve high-demand areas. New smart bus stations are also being rolled out, featuring digital info displays, accessibility features, and pedestrian-friendly designs. It’s all part of making public transport more seamless and efficient.

Why It Matters
These updates reflect RTA’s larger goal—to make public transport the first choice for commuting in Dubai. Whether it’s through thoughtful seating arrangements or smarter infrastructure, the city is moving toward a future where getting around is easier, faster, and more respectful for everyone.
