New Variable Parking Fees in Dubai to Start from April 4
Dubai is set to introduce new variable parking fees starting April 4, as confirmed by Parkin PJSC, the emirate’s largest paid parking operator. The announcement was made in a disclosure on the Dubai Financial Market, following a directive from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Peak and Off-Peak Pricing
Parkin CEO Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali confirmed that peak pricing will be applied for 6 out of the 14 chargeable hours per day. The peak hours will be:
8 AM to 10 AM (2 hours)
4 PM to 8 PM (4 hours)
Sundays and public holidays are exempt from peak pricing.
During off-peak hours (10 AM to 4 PM and 8 PM to 10 PM), parking fees will remain unchanged, following the existing tariff structure.
Implementation After Eid Al Fitr
The variable tariff will be implemented after the Eid Al Fitr holidays, with the new pricing structure taking effect on April 4, 2025.
Current Ramadan Parking Timings
For Ramadan, Parkin is implementing two periods of chargeable hours:
8 AM to 6 PM
8 PM to 12 Midnight
Parking is free between 6 PM and 8 PM from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays during Ramadan. Multi-level parking buildings continue to operate 24/7.
How Will the New Fees Affect Premium Areas?
The new variable parking fees will mean higher costs during peak hours in premium areas. For example, in Al Barsha (code 373CP), a designated premium area, the new peak-hour parking fees will be:
Dh6 for 1 hour (up from Dh2)
Dh12 for 2 hours (up from Dh5)
Dh18 for 3 hours (up from Dh8)
Dh24 for 4 hours (up from Dh11)
During off-peak hours, the fees in the same area will remain:
Dh2 for 1 hour
Dh5 for 2 hours
Dh8 for 3 hours
Dh11 for 4 hours
What Are Premium Parking Areas?
Parkin is in discussions with the RTA to finalize details on premium parking locations. These areas are selected based on:
Proximity to public transport – within 500 meters of a metro station.
High parking demand – areas with high occupancy during peak times.
Congested zones – such as markets and commercial districts.
Tariff Hike First Announced in November 2024
The decision to introduce variable pricing was first announced in November last year. The move aims to optimize parking space usage, encourage public transport, and ease congestion in high-traffic areas.
