GGICO Metro Station renamed to Al Garhoud Metro Station!

GGICO Metro Station Renamed to Al Garhoud Metro Station.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially announced a name change for one of its Red Line metro stations. Starting April 14, 2025, GGICO Metro Station will be known as Al Garhoud Metro Station.

This update is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience by aligning station names more closely with their actual locations. The previous name, GGICO, referred to the Gulf General Investment Company, a public shareholding company listed on the Dubai Financial Market. The new name—Al Garhoud—better reflects the area where the station is situated.

This marks the second metro station renaming in a month. Earlier in March, Al Khail Metro Station was renamed to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station following a naming rights agreement.

RTA has already begun updating signage in and around stations, and this will continue until end of June 2025. All changes will also reflect in smart systems, public transport apps, and onboard announcements to ensure a seamless transition for commuters.

As RTA put it:
“New name, same destination, maximum efficiency.”
