Emirates to Complete Full Shift from DXB to Al Maktoum Airport in Just 3 Days.
Emirates has announced that the complete transition of its operations from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to the new Al Maktoum International Airport will take a maximum of three days. Once the new airport is fully functional, the migration will be rapid and efficient, according to Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer.
Speaking at the ForsaTEK 2025 event, Al Redha explained that the transition would not be prolonged. “Once we have everything functional there, it’s just a matter of shutting down here and moving there,” he said, estimating the move could take just one to three days.
The Dh128-billion Al Maktoum International Airport is set to be completed in the next 10 years and will become the new hub for all Dubai flights. With a capacity to handle 260 million passengers annually, it will be one of the largest and most advanced airports in the world.
Passengers can expect a seamless travel experience powered by cutting-edge biometric technology. Al Redha shared that travelers will walk through immigration zones without showing passports or interacting with staff, thanks to smart infrastructure integrated with facial recognition.
In addition, Emirates plans to use autonomous vehicles at the new airport to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on manual ground operations. The airline is already exploring partnerships with tech companies to implement these innovations.
