Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a smart new platform called Driver Risk Score, designed to evaluate how risky a driver is based on their history. This AI-powered system considers traffic accidents, fines, and black points to generate a score that classifies drivers into three categories — low, medium, or high risk.

Currently in its trial phase, the tool is being used internally within RTA. However, there’s a possibility that it could be rolled out to the public in the near future. Once live, drivers would simply enter their Emirates ID and driving license details to receive their personal risk score.

The aim of this initiative is to identify and improve risky driving behavior. High-risk drivers could be offered targeted training programs to help make Dubai’s roads safer for everyone.

There’s also talk of monetising the tool, especially for insurance companies, which could use the scores to customize premiums based on individual driving habits. In the long run, this could reduce violations, accidents, and potentially save lives.
