Dubai to Accept Government Service Fees Payments in Cryptocurrency.
Dubai Partners with Crypto.com to Accept Government Payments in Cryptocurrency
Dubai is taking another big step toward becoming a global tech hub. In a groundbreaking move, the Dubai Department of Finance has partnered with global crypto platform Crypto.com to allow government service fees to be paid using major cryptocurrencies. This initiative was officially announced during the Dubai FinTech Summit, where the agreement was signed by government officials and Mohammed Al Hakim, president of Crypto.com UAE.
Once the system is in place, both individuals and businesses will be able to use their digital wallets on Crypto.com to pay for a wide range of government services. The platform will automatically convert the crypto payments into Emirati dirhams and transfer the funds securely to the Dubai Finance accounts. This ensures a smooth, secure, and innovative payment experience for users.
The move aligns with Dubai’s ambitious “Cashless Strategy,” which aims to make 90% of all transactions across public and private sectors completely cashless by 2026. This partnership marks a major milestone in that journey and further cements Dubai’s position as a leader in digital transformation.
Calling it a “global first,” Crypto.com’s UAE president praised the collaboration as a major innovation in public payment systems. With this step, Dubai continues to lead the way in embracing emerging technologies and reshaping how governments and citizens interact financially.
