Dubai sees first hailstorm of the summer with heavy thunderstorms.
Dubai residents were treated to an unexpected weather twist on Friday, July 18, as the city experienced its first hailstorm of the summer, accompanied by heavy rain, thunder, and strong winds in several areas.
Rain and hail hit Al Aisaili.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported heavy rain with small hail in Dubai’s Al Aisaili region on Friday afternoon. Instagram weather page @storm_ae captured and shared dramatic videos of hail and downpours in Al Aisaili, extending towards the Margham area and Dubai-Al Ain Road.
Morning showers across Dubai.
Earlier in the day, rain chasers reported light showers in areas like Al Awir, Lahbab, and Al Aisaili. These early morning showers gave residents a brief break from the ongoing summer heat.
Weather alerts issued.
The NCM issued orange and yellow alerts for multiple regions in the UAE, urging people to be cautious during outdoor activities. The authority advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, and if driving, to use low beam headlights when visibility is poor.
Safety advice from authorities.
Abu Dhabi Police also released an advisory for motorists, asking them to drive carefully and follow variable speed limits displayed on roads and electronic boards due to the changing weather conditions.
