In a major step towards improving customer experience, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has launched a groundbreaking AI-powered digital platform called Salama, revolutionizing the way residents renew their visas in Dubai.
Gone are the days of long queues, endless paperwork, and waiting for hours to complete the visa renewal process. With Salama, residents can now complete their visa renewals within minutes, all from the convenience of their own homes or offices. The platform not only simplifies the process but also allows users to download their updated visa document directly, eliminating the need for physical paperwork.
Once logged in, the platform uses AI to automatically recognize user details, showcasing the visa status of the resident and their dependents. The system even displays the remaining days before expiration, making it easier for users to stay on top of their renewal timelines.
The process is incredibly user-friendly. After logging in, the applicant can simply select their preferred renewal duration, and the system processes the request instantly. What once took up to 1-3 hours, depending on document completeness, now takes just 1-2 minutes, provided all required documents are in order. This significant reduction in processing time is a game-changer for residents and highlights the incredible potential of AI in government services.
Currently, the service is available for residents’ visa renewals, with plans to expand in the future. According to Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department at GDRFA, the first phase focuses on renewals and cancellations for residents, but the second phase will bring similar services for visitors, tourists, and other GDRFA services.
For businesses, Salama is set to offer additional services in future phases, allowing companies to manage their visa renewal processes more efficiently. The integration of the smart channel and the GDRFA DXP application will enhance the experience for companies as well.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, General Director of GDRFA Dubai, emphasized the importance of this initiative in Dubai’s digital transformation journey. He shared, “Digital transformation is not just about developing services, but about redefining the customer experience to enhance government performance. The Salama AI Platform reflects our commitment to adopting the latest technologies, improving the quality of life in Dubai, and achieving our visionary leadership’s goal of providing smoother, easier services.”
With the launch of Salama, the GDRFA has truly redefined the visa renewal process. Residents can now enjoy a faster, paperless experience, thanks to the power of artificial intelligence. And with further developments on the horizon, this is just the beginning of a new era in government services for Dubai.
