Abu Dhabi to Revise Darb Toll Timings.

Starting September 1, Abu Dhabi will implement new changes to the Darb toll gate system. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced that evening chargeable hours will be revised from the current 5pm–7pm to 3pm–7pm, from Monday to Saturday. Morning timings will remain unchanged.

No More Daily and Monthly Caps.

The ITC confirmed that the existing daily and monthly caps will be removed. Currently, private vehicles pay a maximum of Dh16 per day or Dh200 per month for the first vehicle, Dh150 for the second, and Dh100 for the third or any additional vehicle. With the new system, a flat Dh4 will be charged each time a vehicle passes through a Darb toll gate, with no cap.

Free on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Tolls will continue to be free on Sundays and during official public holidays. Existing exemptions for eligible groups — including People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees — will remain in place.

Purpose of the Change.

The ITC said these adjustments aim to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on major roads during peak hours. Darb, launched in 2021, manages eight toll gates located on the main bridges leading into and out of Abu Dhabi city.
